How we care for them

From the first phone call to the moment their ashes are back with you. One coordinator stays with your family throughout.

You will always know where your loved one is. We tell you who collected them, where they are being cared for and when the cremation has been arranged.

01

We collect them

One phone call is enough. We bring your loved one into our care from a home, a hospice, a hospital or a care home.

02

They rest in our care

They are looked after in a private mortuary until the day of the cremation.

03

A private viewing

If your family would like to see them once more, we can arrange a viewing at our chapel of rest in London or Nottinghamshire. This is optional, and costs £150.

04

The cremation

Unattended, on a date set by the crematorium. Every registration and permission is completed before it goes ahead.

05

The ashes come home

We collect the ashes, place them in a container or urn, and bring them back to wherever suits you.

One price. No surprises.

Everything listed is covered in the fixed price, so there is nothing extra to pay later.

£150

What the price does not cover

A direct cremation is deliberately simple. So that nothing comes as a surprise later, here is exactly what the £1,295 does not include.

If you would prefer a cremation with a service, we can arrange that too, across all three areas — tell us on the first call and we will talk it through.

No service, and no mourners

There is no ceremony, no hearse, no flowers and no celebrant, and the family is not present at the crematorium. That is what makes it a direct cremation.

Urgent collection from a home

Standard collection is included. If your loved one needs collecting urgently from a home, that is £250 on top of the £1,295.

Fees set by others

Some costs are not ours to set, like copies of the death certificate from the register office. If one applies in your case, we will tell you before anything is agreed.

What most families pay

Ours is a fixed price, not a starting point. Most families in the UK pay more than £1,295 for a direct cremation, and a great deal more for a funeral with mourners. The averages below come from SunLife’s 2026 Cost of Dying report.

Our direct cremation. A fixed price, agreed once.

£1,295

The UK average for a direct cremation.

£1,628

What families say

Decades of experience, thousands of families cared for

We definitely chose the right company

When choosing, it was hard — we'd never done anything like this before. We definitely chose the right company; their whole ethos is built around caring. From start to finish, Sebastian and his team worked tirelessly for a smooth process and took all the stress away. Our family can't thank Funero enough.

Impeccable service at a difficult time

I can't speak highly enough of Sebastian and the Funero team. I'll admit I was slightly worried about using them as they were far more competitive — but their service was impeccable, with regular, timely communication that was a huge comfort at a difficult time.

Funero truly stands out — caring staff, affordable prices and excellent communication. Their team goes above and beyond to make the process smooth and respectful, making a difficult time a little easier, and affordable without ever compromising on quality or care.

Fast, helpful and always available

I'm from Sydney and lost my brother in London. I was lucky to find Funero to help with the repatriation. Sebastian was fast, helpful and available at all times — they made the whole process easy for me. Highly recommended!

They achieved what seemed impossible

Every colleague at Funero went over and above during the repatriation of our loved one, from the first moment to the end and beyond. They spared no effort to make it happen far sooner than usual, treated our loved one with outstanding respect, and their empathy made an unbearable time feel manageable. Your loved ones will be in the best of hands.

Calm, empathetic and endlessly patient

Considering the shock and our lack of knowledge, Sebastian and Mihai were absolutely amazing with their help and guidance. It was an emotionally draining time, but they are calm, polite, empathetic and warm — from practical advice to personal effort and so much patience. We can't thank them enough.

Professional, compassionate, above and beyond

An exceptionally professional and compassionate team. During one of the most painful moments of my life they went above and beyond, offering genuine support and care. Thanks to their kindness and dedication, the burden of losing my mother was made a little easier. I am deeply grateful for their respect, empathy and humanity.

They brought our loved one home from Egypt

Our loved one died on holiday in Egypt and, as a family of modest means, what felt impossible was made possible. Funero was the only company that didn't ask for money upfront, which gave us time to fundraise — and their quote was more than reasonable. They kept us informed every step, translated everything, and their reps in Egypt worked so hard for us. We can't thank them enough for bringing our loved one home.

Our promise to you

Nothing goes wrong. From your first call to the day the ashes come back to you, the same small team handles all of it. You are never passed from one person to the next, and there is nothing left for you to arrange or chase.

Common questions

What families ask us most about a direct cremation — what it includes, how long it takes, and what happens afterwards.

What exactly is a direct cremation?

A cremation carried out without a funeral service and without mourners present. We collect your loved one, complete every registration and permission, arrange the cremation itself, and return the ashes to you afterwards. There is no procession, no hearse and nothing for you to organise on the day.

Can we see them, or be there for the cremation?

The cremation itself is unattended, with no service and no mourners present. But you can visit them beforehand. We can arrange a private viewing at our chapel of rest in London or Nottinghamshire, for immediate family, by appointment. There is no service and no ceremony, and it costs £150.

How long does the whole process take?

Usually between 7 and 10 days from your first call. Most of that is paperwork — the registrations and permissions that must be completed before a cremation can go ahead. We handle all of it and tell you where things stand at each stage.

What do we receive back, and how?

The ashes. We collect them from the crematorium and place them in a container or urn, then return them to an address of your choosing, by hand wherever we can. If you would rather they were scattered in the garden of remembrance, we can arrange that instead.

Is anything charged on top of the £1,295?

Two things, and only if you need them: a private viewing at our chapel of rest, at £150, and urgent collection from a home, at £250. Everything else is covered — standard collection wherever they are, care before the cremation, the coffin, the cremation fees, the return of the ashes, and legal and bereavement support. If a medical referee or coroner's fee applies in your case, we will tell you before anything is agreed.

Do you cover our area?

We arrange direct cremations across London, Nottinghamshire and Doncaster. Collection is included wherever your loved one is within those areas, and the same coordinator handles everything from your first call to the return of the ashes. If you are outside those areas, call us and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

What if we change our minds and want a service?

You can change your mind at any point before the cremation. We arrange cremations with a full service across London, Nottinghamshire and Doncaster, and we will talk you through what that involves and what it costs. Just tell us on the phone.

When do we pay?

Before the cremation. We agree the amount with you at the start and it does not change, so there is nothing to settle afterwards. If anything in your case would add to it, we will tell you before you agree to it.
