Where the difference actually shows up

Have a read before you compare the two headline numbers.

Pure Cremation publish their price, which is more than a lot of funeral companies do. It is £1,595. We read it on their own website on 25 August 2026, and the link at the top of this page goes straight to the page we read.

It buys a good deal: the cremation fee, a wooden coffin, collection from anywhere in mainland England, Wales or Scotland at any hour, and the ashes brought back to you by hand. They do not charge extra for removing a pacemaker, for a larger coffin, or for returning jewellery you want back.

Ours is £1,295. That is the price, not the starting point.

Which leaves £300 between the two headline figures, and that is the least interesting part of this page. What actually moves the bill is whether your loved one is at home or at a hospital.

If your loved one is at home

Pure Cremation charge £260 to collect from a house rather than a hospital. They say so plainly, on the same page as the £1,595, so nobody is caught out by it. For a lot of families that makes the real comparison £1,855 against our £1,295.

With us, collection from a home, a hospice, a hospital or a care home sits inside the £1,295. The only extra we publish is £250 when it has to happen urgently, and you will hear about it on the phone before you agree to anything.

If you want to be in the room

This is the one thing they do that we do not.

A Pure Cremation can be attended. A room for up to twelve people starts at £395, a hall for up to a hundred is £665, and at a partner crematorium, in Scotland for example, it is £995. If being there matters to you, that is a real service and we cannot match it.

What we offer instead is a viewing. An hour with the coffin at a chapel of rest, for close family, before the cremation. It costs £150, and our chapels are in London and Nottinghamshire. The cremation itself is unattended.

So both of these are true, and only one of them favours us.

  • An unattended cremation, collected from home: £1,855 with Pure Cremation, £1,295 with us.
  • A cremation you can be present at: £1,990 with Pure Cremation, and not something we offer.

If it is the second one you need, go with them. We would rather tell you here than on the phone.

Whether we can reach you

Pure Cremation collect from anywhere in mainland England, Wales and Scotland. We cover London, Nottinghamshire and Doncaster.

That is the whole of our service area, not the first stage of a bigger one. Your loved one goes to City of London Crematorium or to Babworth near Retford, close to where they lived, and we do not charge mileage inside those three areas.

If you are in Leeds or Cardiff or Aberdeen, we are not the right firm for you, and Pure Cremation are a good one.

This page is about one company. If you would rather see the whole market, our guidance on what a direct cremation costs lists every published price we could check, including the cheapest, which is not ours.

Five reasons to choose Funero over Pure Cremation

A line drawing of someone sitting with a laptop, reading up on direct cremation prices

£1,295, and that is the price. It does not move after the call.

Collection from a home is already in ours. Pure Cremation add £260 for the same thing.

A viewing at a chapel of rest for £150, if you would like to see them beforehand.

No mileage charge anywhere in London, Nottinghamshire or Doncaster.

Our price carries the day we last checked it. Theirs does not.

Decades of experience, thousands of families cared for

We definitely chose the right company

When choosing, it was hard — we'd never done anything like this before. We definitely chose the right company; their whole ethos is built around caring. From start to finish, Sebastian and his team worked tirelessly for a smooth process and took all the stress away. Our family can't thank Funero enough.

Impeccable service at a difficult time

I can't speak highly enough of Sebastian and the Funero team. I'll admit I was slightly worried about using them as they were far more competitive — but their service was impeccable, with regular, timely communication that was a huge comfort at a difficult time.

I'm from Sydney and lost my brother in London. I was lucky to find Funero to help with the repatriation. Sebastian was fast, helpful and available at all times — they made the whole process easy for me. Highly recommended!

They achieved what seemed impossible

Every colleague at Funero went over and above during the repatriation of our loved one, from the first moment to the end and beyond. They spared no effort to make it happen far sooner than usual, treated our loved one with outstanding respect, and their empathy made an unbearable time feel manageable. Your loved ones will be in the best of hands.

Calm, empathetic and endlessly patient

Considering the shock and our lack of knowledge, Sebastian and Mihai were absolutely amazing with their help and guidance. It was an emotionally draining time, but they are calm, polite, empathetic and warm — from practical advice to personal effort and so much patience. We can't thank them enough.

Professional, compassionate, above and beyond

An exceptionally professional and compassionate team. During one of the most painful moments of my life they went above and beyond, offering genuine support and care. Thanks to their kindness and dedication, the burden of losing my mother was made a little easier. I am deeply grateful for their respect, empathy and humanity.

They brought our loved one home from Egypt

Our loved one died on holiday in Egypt and, as a family of modest means, what felt impossible was made possible. Funero was the only company that didn't ask for money upfront, which gave us time to fundraise — and their quote was more than reasonable. They kept us informed every step, translated everything, and their reps in Egypt worked so hard for us. We can't thank them enough for bringing our loved one home.

Questions families ask us before they choose

How much does Pure Cremation cost?

£1,595 for an unattended cremation, which we read on their website on 25 August 2026. Collecting from a house rather than a hospital adds £260, and being in the room starts at £395 on top. Ours is £1,295 with home collection included.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Pure Cremation?

Yes, us at £1,295. There are cheaper firms than us as well, and we say so in our own cost guidance. Whether cheaper is right for you comes down to where your loved one is and what is actually included.

What do Pure Cremation reviews say?

We do not publish other companies' review scores, and you should not take our word about a competitor anyway. Read them somewhere independent. Three things are worth looking for, because they are what tends to go wrong: whether the final bill matched the quote, how long the ashes took to come back, and whether the same person stayed with the family throughout.

Can you be there for a Pure Cremation?

Yes. A room for up to twelve people starts at £395 and a hall for up to a hundred is £665. We do not offer attendance at all. What we offer is a viewing at a chapel of rest beforehand, for £150.

Does Pure Cremation charge extra to collect from a home?

£260, and they say so on their own price page. With us, standard collection from a home sits inside the £1,295. We only add £250 when it needs to happen urgently.

Do you cover my area?

We cover London, Nottinghamshire and Doncaster. If you are outside those, we are not the right firm for you, and we will tell you that when you ring.
