Two things are worth knowing about Simplicity before you look at the numbers, and both come from their own website rather than ours.
The first is that they belong to Dignity Funerals, one of the largest funeral providers in the country. They say so themselves. That is not a criticism. A national group can do things a small firm cannot, and reaching every corner of Britain is one of them.
The second is that they print the words "correct as at 24th August 2026" next to their prices. Almost nobody in this trade does that. We liked the habit enough to copy it, so every price on this page carries the day we checked it, and so does every other comparison page on our site.
Now the numbers. Simplicity are from £1,399. We are £1,295.
That word "from" is doing real work, and it is worth understanding rather than resenting.
A starting price is the figure for the simplest version of things. That is honest, and it is normal in this trade. It is also why two families can ring the same company on the same morning and be quoted different numbers. What usually moves it is where your loved one is, how far they have to travel, and how quickly you need them collected.
Ours is £1,295 and that is the number. Collection from a home, a hospice, a hospital or a care home is inside it, and there is no mileage charge anywhere in London, Nottinghamshire or Doncaster. The one extra we publish is £250 for an urgent collection, and you will hear about it before you agree to anything.
On the page carrying their price, Simplicity do not list what the £1,399 includes. So ring them and ask for the itemised figure for your own situation. That is the only comparison worth making, and we would want you to ask us exactly the same.
Simplicity are clear that what they provide is unattended, with no service. So is ours.
We do offer a viewing, which is an hour with the coffin at a chapel of rest before the cremation, for close family, for £150. Simplicity publish no price for anything like it. That is not the same as saying they do not do one, only that we could not find it and we will not invent it.
Simplicity collect from anywhere in mainland Great Britain. We collect in London, Nottinghamshire and Doncaster.
If you are outside those three areas, we are not an option for you, and this page has done its job by saying so early.
