Rowland Brothers International do not publish a repatriation price. The route to a number is a quote form: you fill it in, you send it, and you find out what the work costs once somebody has come back to you. They also publish that they act for insurers, corporations, government departments and airlines as well as families, so a form arriving from a household joins a queue with a great deal else in it.
When someone dies overseas there is a chain of offices to get through before anybody can travel: a doctor, a local registrar, a mortuary, a consulate, an airline. Each wants its own document, in its own language, in its own order. Families usually meet this chain for the first time in the worst week of their lives, from several time zones away.
We take the whole chain off you. Our specialists speak to the authorities where your loved one is, in their language, and put the paperwork together here. You will not be asked to travel, to queue at a register office abroad, or to post original certificates anywhere.
A surprising amount of this is often already covered. Many travel policies include repatriation, and some life insurance policies and funeral plans do as well, but the clause is usually buried and plenty of policies do not include it at all.
We will read the policy with you and handle the claim, so what you pay is whatever the insurer does not. We do not charge for that. It is simply the first sensible thing to check, and it is the thing families most often realise too late.
You get one all-inclusive figure, broken into its parts: the preparation, the coffin, the flight, the documents, the consular fees and the coordination. You can see which line is the expensive one instead of being handed a total and asked to trust it.
It arrives free, in about ten minutes, before you have committed to anything and without a form standing between you and the answer. If it is more than you were expecting, you have lost nothing by asking and you have signed nothing.
We will not tell you we are the cheapest, because until we know where your loved one is neither of us can honestly say that. What we will tell you is that the figure we quote is the figure you pay, and that if something genuinely moves you hear it from us while it is happening.
Care does not pause while the paperwork moves. We arrange the washing and the embalming and restore a natural, peaceful appearance, so that whoever sees your loved one at home sees them looking like themselves.
The coffin has to satisfy the airline as well as the receiving country, and those are two different tests. The travel papers are issued by the country where the death happened rather than carried in a passport, and each country has its own form of them. One document in the wrong shape is the usual reason a return sits still for a week.
We meet the aircraft, oversee the transfer, and hand your loved one into the care of whichever funeral director you have chosen, wherever in the country you are. Where the funeral is to be a cremation, a coroner has to authorise it first, and we deal with that so the date you have booked still holds.
A death abroad does not have to be registered a second time here. It can be recorded with the General Register Office if you want a UK record of it, and we will tell you whether that is worth doing.
Where the family would rather have a direct cremation here instead, we arrange those ourselves for a fixed £1,295. It is arranged and completed here in the UK by the same people, with nothing added afterwards.
The same specialists handle your case from the first call to the last document, and you can ring them directly rather than going back through a form. You will not be asked to repeat the story to somebody new halfway through, and your case does not travel between departments.
There is someone on the end of the telephone at any hour, on any day of the year. The first call is free, and most of them reach us at night, because that is usually when the call from abroad comes.

You never fly out. We deal with the doctor, the registrar, the mortuary and the consulate where your loved one is, in their own language.
We check whether the insurance already covers it and handle the claim, so you pay only the remainder.
A free itemised figure in about ten minutes, rather than a form and a wait to be told.
The same specialists throughout, reachable directly, not a case moving between departments.
Somebody answers at any hour, every day of the year, and the first call costs you nothing.
At every step you know what comes next, what it costs and who is looking after it. You never have to chase us. From the first message to the arrival, we handle everything.

From the first conversation we tell you what to expect: the route, the steps and a clear estimated cost. No guessing, no pressure.

We handle the death certificate, the mortuary passport and every formality with the authorities, so you are not queuing at an embassy or posting originals abroad.

Washing, embalming, the coffin and dignified international transport, all inside the price you have already seen. Nothing is added along the way.

We stay with you from the departure through to the arrival, then help with the final paperwork and registering the death.
When choosing, it was hard — we'd never done anything like this before. We definitely chose the right company; their whole ethos is built around caring. From start to finish, Sebastian and his team worked tirelessly for a smooth process and took all the stress away. Our family can't thank Funero enough.
I can't speak highly enough of Sebastian and the Funero team. I'll admit I was slightly worried about using them as they were far more competitive — but their service was impeccable, with regular, timely communication that was a huge comfort at a difficult time.
Funero truly stands out — caring staff, affordable prices and excellent communication. Their team goes above and beyond to make the process smooth and respectful, making a difficult time a little easier, and affordable without ever compromising on quality or care.
I'm from Sydney and lost my brother in London. I was lucky to find Funero to help with the repatriation. Sebastian was fast, helpful and available at all times — they made the whole process easy for me. Highly recommended!
Every colleague at Funero went over and above during the repatriation of our loved one, from the first moment to the end and beyond. They spared no effort to make it happen far sooner than usual, treated our loved one with outstanding respect, and their empathy made an unbearable time feel manageable. Your loved ones will be in the best of hands.
Considering the shock and our lack of knowledge, Sebastian and Mihai were absolutely amazing with their help and guidance. It was an emotionally draining time, but they are calm, polite, empathetic and warm — from practical advice to personal effort and so much patience. We can't thank them enough.
An exceptionally professional and compassionate team. During one of the most painful moments of my life they went above and beyond, offering genuine support and care. Thanks to their kindness and dedication, the burden of losing my mother was made a little easier. I am deeply grateful for their respect, empathy and humanity.
Our loved one died on holiday in Egypt and, as a family of modest means, what felt impossible was made possible. Funero was the only company that didn't ask for money upfront, which gave us time to fundraise — and their quote was more than reasonable. They kept us informed every step, translated everything, and their reps in Egypt worked so hard for us. We can't thank them enough for bringing our loved one home.

Nothing goes wrong. From your first call to the day your loved one is home, the same specialists handle all of it. You are never passed from one person to the next, and there is nothing left for you to arrange or chase.
It depends on where your loved one is, what the flight costs and what the authorities there require, so nobody can honestly give you one figure before asking. Rowland Brothers publish no price and ask you to complete a quote form first. We will cost your actual route and send back a free itemised figure, usually inside about ten minutes, covering the coffin, the preparation, the documents, the consular fees and the transport.
Usually 2 to 7 days. The flight is rarely what holds things up. What sets the pace is how quickly the authorities where your loved one died will issue and release the documents, and that varies country by country. We will give you a realistic picture of your own case on the first call.
Often, but not always. Many travel policies include repatriation cover, and some life insurance policies and funeral plans do too, though the clause is usually buried and easy to miss. We will go through the policy with you and handle the claim, so you only pay for whatever is not already covered.
Ring us, at any hour. You do not need documents, a reference number or a decision ready. Telling us where your loved one is and where they need to be is enough for us to start, and if anything needs doing urgently we will say so on that first call rather than after a form has been processed.
We meet the aircraft and oversee the transfer, then hand your loved one into the care of the funeral director you have chosen, anywhere in the country. Where a cremation is planned, the coroner has to give authority first and we coordinate that, so the funeral date does not slip while paperwork catches up.
Yes. We regularly work with families who are in a third country entirely, and the whole process can be run by telephone and email. Nobody needs to be present in the country where the death happened, or in the UK, for the arrangements to go ahead.

Speak to a repatriation specialist any time, day or night — we'll guide you through every step.
